The Cathedral, Abbey ruins and gardens at Bury St Edmunds and the Georgian Theatre are also well worth a visit.
In a more modern vein, go to Newmarket, racing capital of the sport of Kings, visit Oulton Broad, go boating, sailing or yachting. Try the local brews in the many country pubs.
